Butchart GardensThe Butchart Gardens, considered one of the most spectacular gardens in the world,  is located just a few minutes from the Lodge. Open year round, the Gardens continually change to reflect the seasons. With 55 acres of impeccably designed and maintained gardens it is easy to spend a whole day or more simply wandering.

The Butchart Gardens also offers outstanding entertainment, in addition to the plentitude of floral gardens. In the summer an exciting fireworks display occurs every Saturday night.

Royal BC Museum, Victoria BC

British Columbia's past, present and future are alive at the Royal BC Museum. With a collection of more than seven million unique objects and documents, there's something incredible to see every time you visit.The RBCM is located in downtown Victoria, on the Inner Harbour.

  Craigdarroch Castle Victoria BC

Craigdarroch Castle is a beautiful historic Victorian-era mansion, built in the 1890s by wealthy BC coal baron Robert Dunsmuir. It is now owned by the Craigdarroch Castle Historical Museum Society and almost totally funded by its 150,000 annual visitors. Rising 87 stairs up through the 4 1/2 stories, there are 39 rooms, most of which are furnished lavishly in the 1890s–1900s period. With over 20,000 square feet of space, the house and gardens are being restored exactly as they were originally built, and you will find artisans working on restorations most days. Step back in time and experience the life and times of the very rich and famous.

As well as a quaint and picturesque city, Victoria and the Saanich Inlet are home to some of the finest agricultural regions in the world. This provides us not only with the fresh produce and seafood we feature in our restaurants, but also an abundance of fantastic local wineries and craft brewhouses, many of which specialize in organic and sustainable practices. No trip to Victoria would be complete without a tasting of delicious local wine or spirits. Muse Winery 

 

Hidden in Deep Cove on Southern Vancouver Island is Muse Winery (formerly Chalet Estate Winery); a small self sustaining, family winery owned by Peter & Jane Ellmann. This boutique winery has been producing fine limited edition wines since 2001. Fine Wine begins in the vineyard and the Ellmanns strictly adhere to organic practices using natural ingredients to fertilize the vines and control weeds. Extensive canopy management, hand cropping and picking ensures that only the finest fruit is used in the production of their Award Winning Wines and minimal to no sulphites are added to any of the wines. Experience a structured tasting or enjoy the wines on the Vineyard Patio. During the summer hours are 11am to 5 pm daily, closed Mondays.

This boutique winery, a partnership of three couples, has built a strong following for its limited edition wines. Ortega, Pinot Gris, Marechal Foch, Pinot Noir -- pure Vancouver Island! Blue Grouse

 

Blue Grouse Estate Winery was established in 1989 as one of the pioneering family-operated vineyards on Vancouver Island. It is situated on a 31-acre farm in the heart of the Cowichan Valley. Hans and Evangeline Kiltz are the proprietors operating the estate with their winemaker son Richard.

The southern slopes of the vineyard provide ideal growing conditions for producing premium Germanic-style wines. The harvest is done by hand and only the highest quality grapes are selected to create character wines such as Ortega, Pinot Gris, Pinot Noir and Black Muscat, a Blue Grouse exclusive. All wines are grown, produced and bottled at Blue Grouse Vineyards.
